Compromiso con Atacama
Con un fuerte llamado a la descentralización efectiva y al impulso de inversiones responsables, la Corporación para el Desarrollo de la Región de Atacama (CORPROA) conmemoró su 35º aniversario reafirmando su compromiso con el crecimiento sostenible y la mejora en la calidad de vida de los atacameños.

During the ceremony, the president of CORPROA, Juan José Ronsecco, made an assessment of the region’s recent challenges. «The Atacama Region, despite its strategic importance due to its mining and energy vocation, only grew by 1.1% in 2024 and closed with an unemployment rate of 9%, higher than the national average. In this scenario, the work of CORPROA has been crucial to address the territory’s needs and promote concrete solutions,» stated Ronsecco.
Nuevas Iniciativas de CORPROA
In his speech, the president of CORPROA announced a series of initiatives aimed at promoting investment and preparing new generations of trade leaders. One of the highlighted projects was the «Diploma in Management and Communication for Trade Leaders», a postgraduate course certified by the University of Los Andes and fully financed by the corporation. The program will be directed towards 15 participants, mainly sons and daughters of local entrepreneurs.

Descentralización y Desarrollo
Ronsecco emphasized the importance of effective decentralization as a fundamental pillar to unleash Atacama’s potential. «Our region contributes more than 28,000 direct jobs in mining and around 70,000 indirect ones, holding the country’s second-largest portfolio of mining projects valued at over $14 billion. However, we still face barriers such as bureaucracy, lack of infrastructure, unemployment, and insecurity,» he noted.
In this context, the corporation’s president reaffirmed that CORPROA’s goal is to continue building bridges between the public and private sectors, articulating initiatives that generate real and lasting impact for the Atacama communities. «We are convinced that regional development is built from the territories, with agile decisions, a future vision, and a genuine commitment to people,» he concluded.
